music share eg

3 min read
Going to try organizing the weekly album sharing thing here. There are some more things than just throwing an album and saying I like it I'd like to do with this, like expanding info on its release, its relation to previous albums (where applicable, could be a debut), any art the comes along with the album, etc. These can definitely be shorter, and be easier to make on a weekly basis, or can be as in detail or more and be bi-weekly or something like that. @:iconlazy-pepper: lemme know whatcha think, eh?

Queens of the Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork (2013)

...Like Clockwork

...Like Clockwork is the 6th full album by the Southern Californian based Queens of the Stone Age. This album comes after a six year hiatus following Era Vulgaris, and is the bands first chart topping record. The album features a number of other high profile performers with additions to the album, including Dave Grohl providing Drums/Percussion in the middle and later half of the album, and many contributors to background vocals including Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Elton John, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), and more (though being able to pick them out of the mix isn't really possible.)
QotSA lead singer and founder Josh Homme found the inspiration for ...Like Clockwork from his near death experience and subsequent depression following complications during a knee surgery in 2010. Homme had been brought back to life on the operating table, then spent the next 4 months in a hospital bed where he said he lost his love for music, and the career he had been building the last 20 years. Later in 2011 looking for inspiration, QotSA reissued and toured their debut self-titled album. It was noted by Homme later:
"I was hoping that playing the first record would really inspire me and make me fall in love with music again. But I think I was just lost, looking for something in the dark. In that dark I found ...Like Clockwork."
...Like Clockwork features lots of hard/stoner rock sound, but does contain slower songs with accompanying piano throughout. The album was released alongside a 15min short film of the albums songs with insane art done by UK artist Boneface.  (I remember when the album was first coming out, all of the music videos were being released one day at a time and hinting at the next song coming out. watching all of them all together was so amazing, I don't think I'll ever forget it.)

Favorites: I can say I like every song on here. This album is a real ride from beginning to end. I can pick out individual songs off it to listen alone, but when I start, I always end up listening to the whole album from start to finish. If I had to name three, right now, they would be Smooth Sailing / The Vamypre Of Time And Memory / My God Is The Sun

Hi there my folks! Just writing a little something to let you guys know that Starting today, I'm going to be doing a 52 week art challenge. I chose to do this because i want to push my artistic ability so I can progress and really work on drawing. This isn't to say that my weekly submissions are going to be only drawings; they may be an accumulation of sketches, photographs taken by me, or different forms of digital works (pixel/ photo manipulation/ etc). I hope to be uploading every Friday give or take a day.
